Here it is! You've been enjoying your Whiskey barrel aged coffee or are getting ready to give this precious, unique experience to a special person. To add a little twist to this already delectable coffee (to be enjoyed with friends!), we've experimented and have come up with some Whiskey barrel aged coffee cocktails!
Here it goes:
#1 'Kissed by the north' Whiskey barrel aged Irish coffee.
Well if that isn't a mouthful of deliciousness! hah! It'll taste good too, trust me.
What you need:
- A footed glass (or a wine glass is fine if that's what you have kicking around)
- 1 cup of brewed Atlin Mountain coffee roasters Whiskey barrel aged coffee
- 1 tablespoon of brown sugar
- 2 cups boiling water
- 1/2 cup Fresh whipping cream from your local farmer
- 1.5 oz of Award winning Two Brewers Whiskey
- Dash of Solstice bitters from the Yukon's own Free pour Jennys
Fill your glass with boiling water to Preheat it
In a small saucepan, combine sugar and whiskey and gently warm them up until the sugar dissolves (remember, alcohol evaporates in temperatures over 40 celsuis so don't heat it too much!).
Whip the unsweetened whipping cream slightly, adding the dash of solstice bitters to it. The whipping cream must be whipped shortly so that it is thickened, it must not be stiffened. You're going to be pouring it over top of the back of a spoon..
Empty your pre-warmed glass and fill with sugar/whiskey mix. Add your freshly brewed, hot Whiskey barrel aged coffee until the glass is 3/4 full.
Place the tablespoon with the back side up into the glass. Place it touching the glass and the top edge of the liquid coffee.
Gently pour the Solstice whipped cream over the back of the spoon so it sits on top of the coffee, lift the spoon as needed during pouring until the glass is full. you should see a distinct layer between the black coffee and the white whipping cream. If this is not the case, no worries, in your tummy it won't look perfect either. Practice makes perfect and the layering looks great if you're serving it to guests.
